KATHARINA GOTTERBARM – MASTER STUDENT
What brought me here?
During my school years, I was most fascinated by the natural sciences, which led me to study Chemistry at the University of Freiburg. During my bachelor's degree, I discovered my passion for organic chemistry. In the summer semester of my Master’s studies in Graz, I particularly appreciated the wide range of lectures on sustainable chemistry and catalysis. Upon returning to Freiburg, I joined the Schnitzer group to gain practical experience in organocatalysis, working with chiral peptide catalysts on the kinetic resolution of a transesterification reaction.
What makes me happy?
I love being outdoors on my bike or going to the Alps for mountaineering. I enjoy spending time with great touring partners and tackling challenging routes together. I also appreciate the simplicity of having only what’s necessary – usually a backpack and a shelter in the mountain hut are all I need.
What is my current smartphone background? Why?
It’s a picture from my last mountain tour. It reminds me of this beautiful landscape and the remote mountain scenery – and it makes me look forward to my next adventure.
