THOMAS GERGES – MASTER STUDENT

What brought me here?

“Chemistry is everything but not everything is chemistry.” This statement has shaped my entire studies. Since I consider organic synthesis as an art by itself, I'm curious to see how far the limits of this one extends. As a French master student holder of a binational B. of Sc. namely Regio Chimica, I’m grateful of being a member of Schnitzer’s group. Their innovative approach to organic catalysis serves as a significant wellspring of inspiration for me.

What makes me happy?

Essentially, it's all about the things that truly ignite my sense of vitality. This is likely why I have a strong affinity for boxing. I find immense pleasure in immersing myself in the natural beauty, which is why I often go for runs in the mountains near Freiburg. Conversely, I relish losing myself in the exuberant crowds at techno events, a quintessential part of German culture.

What is my current smartphone background? Why?

My smartphone backgrounds are random images of the nature through different point of view. I like the idea of using the technology as a window to observe the world through different perspectives.
